Supplemental Facts
Each 400mg GlucoFast Vegi-cap contains the following:
GymnemaSylvestre
The gymnemic acid present in Gymnema prevents the absorption of excess glucose in the small intestine, thereby helping to balance the amount of glucose in your bloodstream. One study performed in patients with type 2 diabetes showed that Gymnema was able to reduce blood sugar levels as well as stimulate insulin secretion from the pancreas. Moreover, it also showed the ability to regenerate beta cells in the pancreas, which are the cells responsible for insulin production, and whose function is usually impaired in type 2 diabetes. Additionally, this plant also seems to improve the ratio of “good” (HDL) to “bad” (LDL) cholesterol, one important predictive indicator of heart disease.
Fenugreek
Fenugreek seeds may be helpful for people with diabetes. The seeds contain fiber and other chemicals that may slow digestion and the body’s absorption of carbohydrates and sugar. The seeds may also help improve how the body uses sugar and increases the amount of insulin released.
Berberine
Berberine decreases insulin resistance, making the blood insulin more effective, decreases glucose production in the liver and slows the digestion of carbohydrates. Berberine affects the body at the molecular level, and has a variety of functions inside cells. One of the main functions is activating an important enzyme called AMPK, which regulates metabolism.
Capsicum
Anthocyanins present in bell peppers inhibits the activity of two key digestive enzymes alpha-glucosidase and lipase. The alpha-glucosidase enzyme aids in breaking down carbohydrates into glucose, whereas pancreatic lipase helps in degradation of fats or lips into fatty acids. If the digestion of carbohydrates and lipids is slowed, the concentration of blood sugar and lipids is also reduced, thereby lowering your risk of hyperglycemia and helping you to control your blood glucose level.
Ginseng helps increase insulin production, enhance blood sugar uptake in cells, and provide antioxidant protection. By increasing insulin production, ginseng reduces glucose levels and keeps blood sugar levels balanced.
AMLA
In a recently published 90 day, multicentric randomized open label trial, Amla was found to significantly improve the key parameters of blood sugar levels (fasting and post prandial) and lipid levels (LDL, VLDL and total cholesterol) in subjects with hyperglycemia and BMI ranging from 27-35.
Amla increases the production of HDL-C, thus reducing the triglyceride levels in the bloodstream. Having high levels of triglyceride can cause insulin resistance, and obesity, and increase the risks of heart disease.
