Immunity Galore

The immune system is a complex network of specialised cells and proteins that provide a defence against infection and disease in the body. The immune system keeps a record of germs that have been defeated by it so that it will recognise and destroy the germ if it enters the body again. This immunity (protection) is against invaders such as bacteria, viruses, fungi and toxins from outside the body. Organs and tissues that are important for the immune system to function properly include Bone Marrow, Lymph Nodes and Lymph Vessels, the Spleen and the Skin. The majority of immune system cells are produced and multiply in the bone marrow. These cells move to other organs and tissues through the blood. The main functions of the immune system are to fight germs that cause disease, to recognise and neutralise harmful substances from outside the body and to fight changes in the body that will cause disease.                   
Vitamin C is necessary for the growth, development and repair of all body tissues. It is also a powerful anti-oxidant (protect cells against harmful molecules) that strengthens the body's natural defences. Vitamin C helps with the production of white blood cells (lymphocytes) which assists with the protection against infection. Vitamin D3 promotes the health of the immune system by regulating the absorption of calcium and phosphorus which is obtained through maintaining a healthy diet. Calcium is needed by the body to maintain strong bones, for muscles to move and for the nerves to carry messages between the brain and other body parts. The body uses Phosphorus to keep bones strong and healthy as well as assisting with the removal of waste and repair of damaged tissues. Magnesium has a crucial role in the body by strengthening muscle and bones, supporting cardiac and nerve functions and with energy production. It also keeps the immune system strong because it is needed for immunoglobulin synthesis. Immunoglobulins are antibodies produced by the white blood cells and form a critical part of the immune system by recognizing and binding to particular bacteria or viruses and helping with their destruction. Zinc is a mineral that is essential to the body. It is found in cells throughout the body and helps the immune system to fight off invading bacteria and viruses. It is also required for the production of protein in the body. Moringa Leaf is packed with anti- oxidants which protect cells from damage and boost the immune system and enables it to fight off infections. It also has calcium, protein, iron and amino acids (organic compounds that combine to form proteins) which help the body to heal and build muscle.
